Our client suffered a head injury when she was ejected from Hellgate’s boat during a four boat spin maneuver on the Rogue River. We alleged that two other Hellgate Boats went over the top of her while she struggled to come to the surface. The lawsuit alleged $7.1M in damages as a result of the injuries. It settled for a confidential, but satisfactory, amount. The spin maneuver is no longer permitted.
JJLM attorney Marilyn Heiken spearheaded this litigation, which required extensive research and argument on maritime law. Attorney Heiken stated, “[e]veryone loves the Rogue River and all the wonderful things it provides, and we feel strongly that people making money off the river need to be responsible and keep everyone safe.”
