On July 12, 2018, a St. Louis jury awarded 4.69 billon dollars in damages to 22 women and their families after concluding that Johnson & Johnson (J&J) knew its talcum powder products contained asbestos but failed to warn consumers. All 22 women developed ovarian cancer after prolonged use of talcum powder products. The St. Louis verdict is the latest of several lawsuits tried against the talc maker J&J since 2013. Johnson Johnson Lucas & Middleton and other law firms have filed suit on behalf of women in Oregon and throughout the country. J&J continues to deny that its talc products, including Johnson & Johnson Baby Powder® and Shower to Shower®, cause ovarian cancer.
